Just Plummy!

Plums are great for juicing.  Packed with vitamins and a mellow sweetness.

  1. so i bought the large bag of kale from the store and i hardly got any juice from the two handfuls i used. should i just use the stalk and buy it whole?

    1. It's true, kale isn't very juicy. Kale pulp is pretty dry, too, so re-juicing the pulp only yielded one half or one additional ounce of juice for me. I have read (though never tried) that you can get more juice from kale stalks if you trim the bottom of the stem, and split the stem with a knife and stand the stalk in water for a while before you juice the stalk. This make sense because the plant will "drink" the water, I guess as any cut plant would. Another tip I read is to let veggies go slowly through the juicer. So, even though the kale branches (stalk, greens and all) aren't very juicy, they're pretty potent! Did you mix with other fruits and veggies? Good luck!

    2. i did mix it. soaking makes sense. i also re-juiced the pulp and got about a half cup more juice but that was from the total. you were right, not really worth it given the mess involved. i don't think we have a very good juicer though, it was still wet after the second run through.
