C is for Chartreuse

My juice pitcher was full to the max with this recipe.  It was my dinner last night, but I couldn't finish the last 6 or 8 ounces.  My husband took care of the rest.  It was sweet and light, with a hint of pepper.  I find that peaches pair well with peppers.  P.S.  I've never had juice this color before.

Tastes Great, and Filling:
1 yellow bell pepper
1 zucchini
1 cucumber
1 c. iceberg lettuce
3 celery stalks
2 peaches
3 oranges

I believe the word for this is "chartreuse".

Strawberry-Tomato-Carrot Juice

In attempt to fend off this cold that my kids keep trying to give me by sneezing on me and wiping their noses on me, I made this vitamin C juice today for lunch.  It's excellent; a little sour and carrot-y, but very satisfying!

Drink Your Vitamins:
1 c. strawberries
1 c. cherry tomatoes
6 carrots
5 stalks celery
1 c. spinach
1 c. green leaf lettuce
3 small apples
1 lemon
Remedy your "cold" vacation.

A New Tongue Twister

Peter Piper, stop your picking of pickled peppers.  In fact, don't bother pickling peppers at all.  Juice those peppers and drink them raw.  That'll give your tongue something to twist and shout about.

How about this for a tongue twister?  Jackie Jormp-Jomp juiced a jar of jade-colored juice.

1 green bell pepper
3 cups spinach
3 stalks celery
1 cucumber
3 small apples
Doctor me some pepper juice.

Double Fisting It

When I am reaching for my leafy green ingredient for my juice, I usually just choose one.  Kale, or spinach, or some other dark leafy green.  But today I used both kale and spinach.  I'm glad I did because it was great, and why not pack in the nutrients?

Two Is Better Than One:
2 cups spinach
4 branches of kale
3 stalks of celery
1 1/2 cucumbers
1 1/2 tomatoes
1/2 lemon
1/2 orange
1/2 pear
1/2 peach

Vacation Juicing

It's nice to have relatives who live in a touristy area, because it makes for a cheap vacation!  This week I'm blogging from Amish Country, Ohio and will be using my mom's Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer.

It's a much quieter juicer than my Breville and has only one setting for juicing (as opposed to 5 different power settings on my own).  I feel that examining the pulp is a good judgement of a juicer's efficiency, and the pulp from the Jack LaLanne Juicer looked exactly the same as the Breville pulp (comparable amount and wetness for the fruits and veggies I usually use).

Now on to our hammock-layin', cloud-gazin', sun-bathin', pool-chillin', veggie-juicin' vacation!

Chillin' like Magellan:
3 cups spinach
1 head romaine lettuce
3 stalks celery
1 tomato
1 english cucumber
2 oranges
1 apple
My four year old LOVES to help.

Spinach juice.

A Tall Cold One.

Love At First Sip

Their eyes met across a crowded grocery cart.  He was a leafy green, she was an exotic islander.  The moment was ripe, and once Kale married Pineapple, they knew it was meant to be.

Sweet Union:
4 branches of kale
1/2 head iceberg lettuce
1 cucumber
3 stalks celery
1/2 pineapple
A pair of star-cross'd lovers.
