Here's a yummy combo I haven't tried before:

Red Velvet:
1 beet
3 stalks celery
1 c broccoli
1 c baby carrots
1/3 pineapple
2 c strawberries
1 apple

Buckling Down

You know it's time to stop eating chocolate when your 10 year old expresses relief at having a green salad with dinner.  This is how it always goes, though.  Easter baskets (halloween bags, Christmas stockings, etc) are full of a variety of goodies, then they slowly get picked over until a week later when there are just Dots, Now and Laters and stale Peeps leftover.  This is the point when Mommy chooses to discreetly THROW IT ALL AWAY.  (good riddance!)

Sometimes we need to have a break from celebrating and return to normal, sweets-are-rare, life!

Burning the Midnight Juicer

Recently I juiced late at night for my husband.  When he is in a groove with his writing he'll keep working past bedtime.  But staying up late usually requires another small meal for energy.  A tall glass of juice was just the brain food he needed.

No Rest for the Weary:
1/2 beet
3 carrots
2 stalks celery
1 mango
1 apple

Broken Food Pusher

Well, the first sign of wear and tear has appeared with my Breville.  I have been using it daily for three months.  The food pusher is hollow, plastic, and the cap is removable.  Under the lid is a metal disc attached with screws that thread into the hollow plastic pusher tube.  The threading for the screw broke on one side, so that the metal disc cannot attach.  The cap can still attach.

As far as I can tell, the metal disc served no crucial purpose.  It was not air tight so that when it fell off, I detected some food particles in the pusher tube that had been trapped.  Without the metal disc I suppose it is easier to clean.

I did notice that the part costs $25 to replace and that it is currently out of stock on the Breville website.
